Bertha Mae Burdette, age 97, of Iva, wife of the late Griffin W. Burdette, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2015 at the Rainey Hospice House surrounded by loved ones. Born in Anderson County, SC on July 30, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Hart and the late Ella Elgin Hart. She worked for many years at Jackson Mill and later retired from Wellington Mill of Anderson. She was a long-time member of the Iva Church of God. She is survived by a sister, Ruth Elgin, of Iva, SC; a son, Larry Wade Burdette and his wife Linda , of Iva, SC; an adopted great-nephew, Kenny Fisher, of Iva, SC; grandchildren, Tony Burdette, of Greenwood, SC, Mitzi Siracusa and her husband Tony, of Pasadena, CA, Tracy Wilder and her husband Jeff, of Powder Springs, GA, Jerry Burdette and his wife Sarah, of Iva, SC, Curtis Dwayne Burdette and his wife DeAnne, of Liberty, SC, Kim Hill and her husband Matthew, of Iva, SC, Robin Fisher, of Iva, Megan Lambert and her husband Jim, of St. Rose, LA; 16 great-grandchildren;11 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild and many more children of the heart. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, William "Billy" Burdette and his wife Betty Hewell Burdette; brothers, Louis, Sam, Willis, and Lee Hart; and sisters, Alice Weller and Carrie Taylor. The family will be at the home of Wade Burdette, 130 Sunset Drive, Iva, SC and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Iva with Reverend Jerry Gray and Reverend Charles Driggers officiating.
