Bertie Lou Meredith age 77, wife of Leon Morris Meredith of Fairplay, SC died Friday, September 26, 2008, at Summit Place Assisted Living Center in Anderson. Born in Anderson, SC on May 19, 1931, Mrs. Meredith was a daughter of the late Guy Telford Gilreath and Fannie Ruth Massey Gilreath. Mrs. Meredith was a graduate of Anderson Girl's High School. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband in the family business for over forty years. She was a Worthy Matron with The Order of The Eastern Star #132 and she was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church where she served as a soloist and assistant choir director. She also taught Sunday School at the church for over 25 years. She is survived by her husband, Leon Morris Meredith, son; Anthony Morris Meredith, daughter; Pamela Meredith Boswell, grandchildren; Meredith Merritt, Robbie Cobb, Miranda Meredith and Juddie Boswell and great grandchildren Maddox Merritt and MacLaine Merritt. She is also survived by brothers; Rev. Guy Overcash, Wib C. Gilreath, Larry M. Gilreath, Donnie G. Gilreath and John K. Gilreath and sisters; Annette G. Martin and Nancy G. Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Doug M. Gilreath and Ronnie C. Gilreath. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, September, 28, 2008 at Beaverdam Baptist Church in Fairplay, SC officiated by Rev. Ray Martin and Rev. Richard Burton. Mrs. Meredith will be placed in the church at 2:00 pm on Sunday and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 6-8 pm and at Beaverdam Baptist Church on Sunday from 2-3 pm.
