Bess Paris Haney, 83, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021, at AnMed Medical Health Center.
Born October 13, 1937, in Greer, SC, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence C. Paris and the late Sallie Sumner Paris. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by a brother Cecil Vance Paris.
Bess was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing Sunday dinners for her family and friends. She also enjoyed the Christian fellowship at Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was a chartered member and served as the Sunday School Treasurer. She was lovingly known as "Sister" at Centerville Washerette where she worked as an attendant until retirement in August 2017.
Survivors include her sisters, Vivian Presher, of the home and Joyce Dove Valentine of Williamston, SC and a brother, Rev. Lawrence Allen Paris (Lottie) of Anderson, SC. She is also survived by a step-daughter whom she loved dearly, Melinda Kay Baker and a step-son-in-law, James Baker of Liberty, SC. The other loves of her life were her three nieces, Rita Marie Presher (Danny), Julia Kelly Crow, and Debbie Dove Streetman. Other survivors include several great nieces and great nephews who fondly called her "Aunt Bess".
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
