Obituary

Betty Adams Starr, SC Betty Watson Adams, age 87, passed away peacefully, in her sleep, after a long heroic battle with Alzheimer's, on Friday, November 14, 2014, at Emeritus at Anderson Place. Born in Anderson, SC, on September 11, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Edward Austin Watson and the late Olivia Elizabeth Bannister Watson. She retired from Fiberglas after 35 years of service. Betty was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. She was a loving caregiver to many members of her family, devoting her life to taking care of them. Betty is survived by her children, Ronald Watson Adams and his wife Glenda, of Starr, SC, and Patricia Adams Smith and her husband Frank, of Anderson, SC; four grandchildren, Spring Kilgore, Matthew Smith, Amy Adams, and Kerry Adams; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John "Bill" Adams; a son, William Russell Adams; two brothers, Edward and Louis Watson; and three sisters, Lillian Embler, Mattie Fowler and Ollie Mae Ramsey. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Flat Rock Baptist Church with Reverend Ed Hunsinger officiating. Mrs. Adams will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Flat Rock Cemetery. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Patricia and and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.. Flowers are optional, or memorials may be made to Brookdale Hospice - Greenville, 25 Woods Lake Road, Suite 405, Greenville, SC 29607.
