Betty Jo Bates Addison, 84, of Anderson, SC, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021, at National Healthcare of Anderson. Born October 12, 1936 in Wilson, NC, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Gilvin Bates and Sara Brown Bates Shirley Wooten. She was married for 43 years to Dwain Addison until his death in September 1996. Betty was a homemaker and very active in her church, Varennes Heights Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School and always participated with the Seniors at Church. She was known for her marvelous baking skills which were always the best. She also loved to dance. Betty loved her Lord and family and never missed an opportunity to spread happiness. She was beautiful inside and out. She is survived by her children, Susan Chastain (Eddie) and Robin Addison; brother, William Bates(Jane); sister, Miriam McGee; sister-in-law, Sara Bates; 4 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Gayle White; brother, Charles Bates; and sister, Rebecca Harper. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 10, 2021, from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Chapel with Dr. Kirt Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.
