Betty Jean Jones Alexander, age 87, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at her home.

Born March 16, 1936, in Gaffney, SC, she was the daughter of the late App Paul Jones and Ludinia Galloway Jones. She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters and 6 brothers.

Betty was a longtime banking professional, having worked at S.C. National Bank and Wachovia where she retired as the city executor for the Clemson office. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and enjoyed volunteering and visiting with the shut-ins. Betty enjoyed traveling and volunteering with veteran groups. She was also an advocate for those most vulnerable and served as a guardian ad litem for the Anderson County court system. She loved her family and friends and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Samuel Alexander; daughters, Brenda Housley, Lisa Frederick, and Micki Boan; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 4:00-6:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 1:00 pm at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Tom Turner officiating.
