Betty Catherine Engram, 72, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at Summit Place Assisted Living. Born in Anderson, SC, on August 21, 1946, Betty was the daughter of the late Alfred Charping and Irene McAllister Charping. Betty was a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School class of 1964. Betty was the youngest of four farm girls, strong, independent and loved traveling the world. She was creative with an entrepreneurial spirit. She owned several local businesses including: The Strawberry Patch and Names-N-Things. She then retired after working many years at Art Craft and Frame. She was a member of NewSpring Church in Anderson. Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is remembered in love by her son Rodney Engram; daughter-in-law, Lori and her grandchildren, Lori Catherine and Hayes. Betty is also remembered in love by other family members; her sisters, Brenda Slaton (Jerry), of Anderson, Mary Pruitt of Texas; and Ron Engram and his sisters Sherry Cooley, Pat Cheek, and Renee Strawhorn (Mickey). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Tinsley. The family would like to sincerely thank The Summit Place staff of Anderson and Pruitt Hospice of Anderson for the love and care given to Betty. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Brian Cheek officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 16, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
