Obituary

Betty Faye Smith, age 58, of Belton, SC, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Paul Dyer and the late Betty Jean Kelley Dyer. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Jenny Rollins.

Faye lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and devotion to her family. Faye was married to her childhood sweetheart, Jackie Thomas Smith, for over 40 wonderful years. Their bond was an example of enduring love and partnership to everyone who knew them. Above all else, Faye adored her family. Her grandbabies were truly the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Whether spending time at the lake, traveling to the mountains, swimming, sharing meals, or simply enjoying time together as a family, Faye found her greatest joy surrounded by the people she loved most. Faye loved crocheting, cooking delicious turkeys for her family, and spending time playing Palia online with friends. She also had a playful side and enjoyed dressing up her beloved chihuahua, Nibbler, in fun shirts and costumes that brought smiles to everyone around her. Faye’s kindness, humor, and loving heart touched countless lives. She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love her, but the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

She is survived by her husband, Jackie Thomas Smith; son, Thomas James Smith; daughters, Jennifer Leanne Clark (Josh) and Misty Deanna Gutherie (Ashley); brother, Truman Joseph Thacker; four grandchildren, Christine and Sarah Clark, Thomas “Bubba” Gutherie, and Charlotte “Lottie” Gutherie; and fur baby, Nibbler.

Details of visitation and celebration of Faye's life will be shared and held at a later date.
