BETTY R. HANVEY January 30, 1939 - July 10, 2012 Mrs. Betty Ruth Nicholson Hanvey, age 73, of 523 Murphy Road, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Radford Lee Nicholson and the late Nettie Canipe Nicholson. She was the wife of William Ray Hanvey, her beloved husband to whom she was married for 40 years until his death in 1996. Mrs. Hanvey was a member of Gospel Land Missionary Chapel, and was a home maker who loved her family, her friends and who never met a stranger. Betty lived and loved life to the fullest. She included collecting antiques and fishing among her favorite activities. Left to carry on her legacy are her son, Randy Hanvey and his wife, Rosa Ann, of Anderson; a daughter Deborah Thrasher of the residence, and her special friend Ronnie Bryant who was a caregiver to Betty in her later years; a sister, Roberta Moore of Anderson; six grandchildren, Jody Parnell, Teresa Cantrell, Kristi Pelfrey, Stephanie Hanvey, Wesley Bridges, and Steven Lamb; 7 great-grandchildren also survive. In addition to her parents and her husband, Ray, Mrs. Hanvey was preceded in death by brothers, Barney, M.C., Bill, Buddy and Joe Nicholson and a sister, Janie Snow. A funeral service celebrating the life of Betty Hanvey will be held in The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 13, 2012, at 2 PM, with Betty's best friend, Rhonda Strickland Anusevitch officiating. The family will be at the home of Randy and Rosa Ann Hanvey, 301 Pine Grove Rd., Anderson, and will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 12, from 6 PM until 8 PM.
