Betty Smith Hawkins Herring, age 86, of Anderson, SC, loving wife to Bobby Joe Herring, went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Rainey Hospice House. Born November 5, 1934, in Habersham, GA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Glenn Smith and the late Ethel Roberts Smith. She worked as a cosmetologist for over 40 years, loved to read, and home making. She was a devoted member of North Anderson Baptist Church where she was a charter member and was the last surviving original church member. In addition to her husband, Bobby Joe, she is survived by her sons, Michael Orman Hawkins (Deborah), and Joey Hawkins (Emily); brothers, Doug, Larry, and Troy Smith; sister, Brenda Smith; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 40 years, J. Orman Hawkins; and one sister, Velma Benton. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Stanley Cole officiating. Social distancing will be observed.
