Betty Tallent Rice, age 81, of Honea Path, SC, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Maples at Austin Place.

Born December 16, 1944, in Due West, SC, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Ray Tallent and Elizabeth Ballard Tallent. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Rice, III; and brother, Bobby Ray Tallent.

Betty was a graduate of Dixie High School and went on to graduate with honors from both Anderson College and Clemson University. She and her husband were the owners and operators of Rice Consulting working with many manufacturing companies during the lifetime of their business. Betty was smart, independent, strong willed, and was a role model to many over the years. She knew what she wanted and worked hard to get it. When asked for advice, she always gave it with love. More than anything, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family. She was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Tony Hanley (Michelle) and Regina Alewine (Jody); grandchildren, Drake Hanley (Amber), Ben Hanley (Megan), and Melina Hanley; great grandchildren, Maddelyn, Adaline, and Reina; and stepchildren, Penny, Jon, Julie, and Kim.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 10:00-11:15 am at Boulevard Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 am with Rev. Dr. Austin Carty officiating. A private family committal will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
