Betty Swann Royster, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at her home.

Born December 17, 1925, in Jacksonville, FL, she was the only child of the late Clyde and Lettie Hadden Swann. She was married for 61 years to Dr. William Burke Royster until his death in 2008.

Betty was a graduate of Spartanburg Methodist College and Erskine College. She served as an elementary teacher and librarian in Anderson School Districts One and Five. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church for more than 57 years.

She is survived by her son, Dr. W. Burke Royster, Jr. and his wife Tina of Greenville.

The family extends appreciation to Eva Keese, Sonya Turman, Ruth McMullen and Barbara Platt for their compassionate care and to Hospice of the Upstate for their support.

A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, SC, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. William R. Childs officiating.
