BETTY LEE SOUSAAUGUST 7, 1930 - JanUARY 26, 2009ANDERSON, SC ' Mrs. Betty Lee Sousa, age 78, wife of Paul J. Sousa of 206 Bedford Forest Avenue, died on Monday, January 26, 2009, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.Born in Stanford, KY on August 7, 1930, Mrs. Sousa was the daughter of the late James and Maude Turpin. She accompanied her husband to numerous military stations both stateside and overseas during his thirty-year Air Force career. She was active in Youth Activities as a Cheerleading and Softball coach and was an active member in the NCO Wives Clubs, holding various offices as President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Activities Chairwoman. Until her death, she was an active member of a local Red Hat Society.Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, Paul J. Sousa, of the home; daughters: Debra Parnes of Waldorf, MD, Sandra McCormick and husband, Bob of Anderson, SC, Angela Ramierez and husband, Michael of San Antonio, TX, and Eva Bodily and husband, Michael of Inman, SC; sons: Paul Sousa and wife, Christina of Pomona, CA, Michael Sousa and wife, Frances of Corpus Christi, TX, and Patrick Sousa and wife, Sheila of Gladeville, TN; sixteen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. 'Miss Betty' as she was so affectionately called, was of the Baptist faith.A Service to Celebrate the Life of Mrs. Betty Lee Sousa will be held at 5pm on Thursday, January 29, 2009, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Dr. Jack Couch.
