Minnie Elizabeth "Betty" Strickland, age 78, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born June 9, 1946, in Belton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Lee Brooks and the late Inez E. Webb Brooks. She was married to Harold Gary Strickland for 40 years until his death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Joe Brooks and Charles Brooks, and brother-in-law, Jimmy Strickland.

Betty graduated from Belton High School and was a member of the last graduating class of the Anderson Memorial Hospital Nursing Program. She worked at AnMed Health until 1973 when she went to work for Dr. James Ruff until his retirement in 1993. Betty then joined Anderson County School District 5 as the Director of Nursing Services until 2011. Upon her retirement, she was presented with the Order of the Silver Crescent by the S.C. Governor's Office for her significant contributions to the life and well-being of the citizens of South Carolina.  She was a faithful and devoted member of Neals Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Kim D. Strickland and Michael W. Strickland; brothers, Tommy Brooks and his wife, Jeannette; and Sammy Brooks, and his wife Pam; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Brooks, Diane Brooks and Patricia Strickland; several nieces and nephews; and many friends who she thought of as family.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm at Neals Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at the church at 3:00 pm with Reverend Jason Dorriety and Reverend Alex Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Nurses Honor Guard of S.C.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Kim Strickland.
