Betty Louise Davis Swaney, age 81, loving wife to the late Hoke L. Swaney, of Pendleton, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 16, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born December 13, 1939, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Hamer Fant Davis and Lucia Violet Scoggins Davis. Betty worked for J.P. Stevens as well as La France Industries where she later retired. Though she had lost her memory due to dementia, she could still sing all verses of the old gospel hymns. She was a member of East Clemson Christian Fellowship. Known as "Me-Ma", she will be forever remembered as a loving mother who treasured spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Mike Swaney of Anderson, SC, Connie Duncan of Pendleton, SC, Ricky Swaney of Pendleton, SC, Jenny Hix of Anderson, SC, William Swaney of Enoree, SC, Daren Swaney of Anderson, SC, Sunshine Swaney of Pendleton, SC, and Johnny Weatherly of Anderson, SC; brother, Lewis Davis of Anderson, SC; sisters, Connie Blair, and Jane Richey, both of Anderson, SC; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, and husband, Hoke, she was preceded in death by a son, Tony Swaney; and four brothers. The family will receive friends Monday, July 19, 2021, from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at East Clemson Christian Fellowship. The funeral service will follow visitation at the church at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Chucky Chandler officiating. Burial will follow at Fants Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
