Betty Moon Swofford, age 92, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2023, at Hospice of the Upstate surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 10, 1931 in Athens, Georgia, the daughter of the late Fred and Doris Moon of Decatur, Georgia.

She graduated from Decatur High School and Agnes Scott College. She worked many years as a mental health counselor at Anderson-Oconee-Pickens Mental Health Center.

Betty had two children, Becky Moore (John) of Anderson, South Carolina and Michael McClelland (Patti) of Springfield, Ohio with her late first husband, Dr. Ellis McClelland, M.D. She was married to Henry Swofford of Anderson until his death in 1999.

Betty loved being with her family. She enjoyed playing bridge, travel and spending time at the lake and the beach. She had a great fondness for all four-legged creatures, particularly beloved dogs Tucker and Shine.

In addition to her son and daughter, she is survived by her grandson, John Denton Moore (Lauren) of Anderson, granddaughter, Betty Moore Edmonson (Cole) of Milton, Georgia, and three great grandchildren.

The family will have a private celebration of Betty's life at a future date.
