Betty Donald Whitfield, age 70, wife of Robert Lamar Whitfield, of 210 Rhodehaven Drive, Gilmer Estates, went to be with the Lord on June 10, 2008, at Rainey Hospice House.Born in Townville, SC, on June 9, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Franklin Donald and the late Eva Rooks Donald. She retired as a self-employed beautician and was a member of Covenant Baptist Church. Betty was a devoted wife and loving mother who most of all enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.In addition to her husband of over fifty years, she is survived by a son, Terry Whitfield and his wife, Pam; and a daughter, Cheryl Whitfield; grandchildren: Chad Dyar, Keri Davis and her husband, Jarrett, Robbie Whitfield and his wife, Katie, Jeff Whitfield and Kelli Whitfield; great-grandchildren: Jake, Jenna & Jolie Kate Davis and McKenzie and Max Whitfield; and her sister Mary Fowler.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Whitfield; and her brothers: Furman, Clifton and Dan Donald. The Funeral Service will be Friday, June 13, 2008, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Steve Silvey. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends Thursday, June 12, 2008, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at The McDougald Funeral Home.
