Born in Toccoa, GA, she was the daughter of the late Stephen J. Meeks and the late June Landers Meeks. Betty retired from Anderson Memorial Hospital after 32 years of service. She was a member of Dorchester Baptist Church where she was active in the Laura Mitchell Circle and W.M.U. She is survived by her daughter, Becky Sanders of Belton, SC; brothers, Tom Meeks and Fred Meeks; sister, Frances Beeler; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Franklin Brooks; her second husband John Lloyd Whitworth; a son, Thomas Miller Brooks; six brothers and two sisters. The Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Reverend Michael Allen officiating. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Becky Sanders, 400 North Major Road, Belton, SC 29627 and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm.
