Obituary

Betty Singleton Wright, age 94, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Rainey Hospice House. 

Born January 24, 1932, in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Logan Frank Singleton and Martha Rena Bradberry Singleton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Bill” Wright; brothers, Johnny S. Singleton, Hubert F. Singleton, and Joe W. Singleton; sisters, Viola S. Richey, Alice S. Brown, Helen S. Bolt, and Elizabeth S. McGill; son-in-law, Danny Norris; and 3 grandchildren. 

Betty worked as a bookkeeper for Wright House Moving for 33 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star-Anderson Chapter #130 where she held many offices and was a Past Worthy Matron. She was a devout Christian and faithful member of New Prospect Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her sons, Bennett S. Wright (Harriet), E. Brian Wright (Cheryl), and H. Bernard Wright (Judy) all of Anderson, SC; daughters, O. Beth Woodside of Anderson, SC, Beverly W. Norris of Buford, GA, and Brenda W. Allen (Michael) of Anderson, SC; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. 

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 11:00 am at New Prospect Baptist Church with Dr. Brian Cribb and Rev. Michael Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, 950 W Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or New Prospect Baptist Church, 2503 Whitehall Rd., Anderson, SC 29625. 

The family will be at their respective homes.
