Bill Mathis February 24, 1948 - August 14, 2012 ANDERSON, SC William "Bill" Terry Mathis, Sr. age 64, of 1911 Highway 29 Apt. 4B, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in St. Louis, MO, he was a son of the late James Clyde Mathis and the late Esther Jean Bate Mathis. Bill was a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a mechanic for many years at McLee's Garage and Free's Radiator Shop. He attended St. Johns United Methodist Church. Survivors include his children, William Terry Mathis, Jr. of Columbia, Ashleigh Lunsford and her husband Anthony of Bowman, SC, and Ginny Lynn Mathis of Bamberg, SC; a brother, Timothy B. Mathis of Anderson; 2 sisters, Sherry M. Hutchings of Barnwell, SC and Marion Mathis of Memphis, TN; 2 grandchildren, Caleb Daniel Lunsford and Gracie Lynn Lunsford; and his special friend, Patricia Berry. A Memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Mathis will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Johns United Methodist Church, 515 S. McDuffie Street, Anderson, SC 29624.
