Billy Gene Arflin, age 72, of Anderson, SC, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022. Born September 3, 1949, in Anderson, he was a son of Helen L. Arflin and the late Wilbur L. Arflin. Billy had attended Anderson College and Tri-County Technical College. He worked in research and development with BASF and Shaw Industries and was retired. Billy was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star. He was a member of Vets Helping Vets Anderson where he also served on the Board. Billy enjoyed antique cars and always helping others. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church. He truly loved his family, especially his grandsons who were the love of his life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen Crowe Arflin; sons, Blake Arflin (Laura) and Brandon Arflin; grandchildren, Bryson and Peyton Arflin; brother, Bobby Arflin (Sheila); loving brothers-in-law, Aaron Crowe (Sandra), Tommy Crowe (Karen), and Tim Crowe (Karen); and nieces, Hannah, Lauren, Amanda, and Haley. Also surviving are his great friends, Bob Robinson and Jesse Taylor along with all of his veteran brothers with Vets Helping Vets. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, David Crowe; nephew, Brett Crowe; and in-laws, Jack and Becky Crowe Patterson. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from 2:00-3:45 pm at Eureka Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 4:00 pm with Dr. Robert Dickard and Rev. Michael J. Harvell officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Veterans Mausoleum. Vets Helping Vets will serve as honorary pall bearers.
