Iva, SC- Mr. Billy Carey, age 72, husband of the late Glenda Gail Carithers Carey, of 27 East Central Avenue, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at AnMed Health Medical Center.Born in Anderson County, SC, he was a son of the late Manuel Carey and Rosie Hart Carey. He was retired from Iva Manufacturing Company with 38 years of service. He was a faithful member for 36 years at Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church where he had served as deacon, usher, greeter, pastor's right-hand man, and children's' 'Bubble Gum man'.Survivors include two sons, Robert Lee Carey and his wife Alecia Gail of Townville, and Calvin Wayne Carey of Iva; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Alexis Carey; brothers, Sam 'Toby' Carey of Winder, GA and William Carey of Bowman, GA; sisters, Bertha Lee Green, Ella Mae Hanks and Rachel Eaton, all of Iva, SC.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Byrum and Marlene Timms.The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by the Reverends Billy Pinson and Charles D. Howell, Jr. Interment will follow in Iva City Cemetery.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.The family will be at the residence.Flowers are optional.
