Billy Ray Green, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Fred Major Green and the late Magdalena Fields Green. He retired from Jackson Mills after 40 years of service. Billy was an avid fisherman and Atlanta Braves Fan. He enjoyed playing baseball, softball, and hunting. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and "papa" to his grandchildren. He was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Doris McGaha Green; children, Tony Green and his wife Stephanie, Tammy Bell and her husband Ray, Kimberley Ellis, and Frankie Green; siblings, Bobby Joe Green and his wife Emily, Betty Brown, Mary Standridge, Charles Green and his wife Elizabeth, Frank Green, Leroy Green, and his wife Peggy, Brenda Jordan and her husband Dale, and Carol Vernon and her husband Doug; 11 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Austin McMillan; two brothers and three sisters. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Jeremy Colloms and Reverend Carrol Plemmons officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
