Billy Ray Lawton, age 86, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at his home.

Born August 1, 1938, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Franklin Lawton and Laxie Campbell Lawton. He was married for 58 years to Brenda Geraldine "Geri" Thompson Lawton until her death on August 27, 2024. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Lawton.

Billy was formerly a director with the Salvation Army and served with the Army National Guard. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also enjoyed using his creative talents building many things over the years. He was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Bryan Richards (Dorothy); and grandson, Matthew Richards.

No services are planned. Mr. Lawton will be laid to rest by his wife at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
