Bishop E. Howard Steen, age 77, of Anderson, SC, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024, at AnMed Medical Center.

Born January 27, 1947, in Lancaster, SC, he was the son of the late Floyd O'Dell Steen and Wincy Knight Steen. He was also preceded in death by a brother James Steen and his wife Shelby; and an infant sister, Mary Marcene Steen.

Bishop Steen was a minister for over 60 years. He was a Bishop in the Church of God of Prophecy, an Usher in the General Assembly and State Convention, and District Overseer for many years. He attended the Bible Training Institute in Cleveland, TN, and earned his CPA at Anderson College. He was the owner and operator of Howard's Tax Service for over 30 years and was also a South Carolina State Constable. He was a hard worker with a servant's heart who loved helping others. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who has left a wonderful legacy.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Sarah Tillman Steen; son, Timothy W. Steen (Tonya); brother, Harold Steen (Becky); sisters, Erleen Tinker (Ted) and Evelyn Rollins (Andy); grandchildren, Sara Ashley Steen, Keri-Hanna Crawford (Tyler), Carolynn Steen, Cara Steen, Arrabella Travis, and Alexandria Travis; and great grandchildren, Karsan, Jaxsan, Tyzsan, Oaklynn, Denver, and Cameron.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 8, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home, 2211 N. Main St., Anderson, SC 29621. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Bishop Richard Martin, Rev. Brent McMasters, and Timothy Steen officiating. The committal service will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Mitchell Looper officiating.

The family will be at the home of his son Timothy Steen, 111 Hamilton Dr., Anderson, SC 29621.
