Obituary

Blake Andrew Holliday, age 19, entered his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, upon his death at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Anderson on July 20, 1998, he was the son of Richard Edward Holliday and Libby MacCartney Holliday of Belton. Blake was proud to be a member of the Erskine College Baseball Team, where he had a tremendous impact on players, students and coaches with whom he came in contact.. He was a star athlete at Belton-Honea Path High School where he was a valued member of the BHP Bears baseball team and where he also played football. He was South Carolina Baseball Player of the year in 2016. In that same year he was named Mr. Baseball for South Carolina. He led the Belton-Honea Path team to AAA State Championships in 2015 and 2016. An avid outdoorsman, Blake loved fishing, hunting and golf. After high school, he attended Clemson University as a member of the Clemson Tigers Baseball team, and then transferred to Erskine College where he joined the Flying Fleet baseball team. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Blake was a friend to all who knew him, and his love for others was truly unconditional. As good as Blake was in athletics, it did not define him. He was a kind person, who loved family and friends. He was truly larger than life, a gentle giant. In addition to his parents, Blake is survived by a sister, Jill Holliday Deaton and her husband, Austin of Anderson; a beloved niece, Rachel Deaton; the love of his life, Katherine Major of Honea Path; paternal grandparents, Edward and Frances Holliday of Belton; two uncles, Tim Holliday and his wife, Connie of Asheville, NC, and Terry Holliday and his wife, Denise also of Asheville; an aunt, Glenda Holliday of Charleston; great-uncle Carol Cook of Anderson, and numerous cousins. Blake also leaves behind the Lowe and Major families who were so important to him and a multitude of friends, players and coaches whose lives he touched and who likewise touched his.
