John Robert Darby, Jr., age 78, of Belton, SC, passed away peacefully into the Lord's presence on Thursday, April 29, 2021. He was born December 27, 1942 in Anderson County and was the son of the late John Robert Darby, Sr. and Lila Tinsley Darby. Bob was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a retired restaurant owner and school bus driver for Anderson District Two. He was very proud of his train collection and had a love for southern gospel music. Bob was a member of Second Baptist Church and the Marion Watt Sunday School Class. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Robin Ivester Darby; daughters, Dana Fisher (Jeb), Reide Buffington (Mark), and Leigh Cappillino (Dana); grandchildren, Brody Buffington (Jordan), Isaac Fisher, Bryant Buffington, Leila Fisher, Darby Cappillino, and Andrew Cappillino; one expected great-grandchild, Berkley Buffington; sister, Billie Jo Hall Bagwell; and special sisters-in-law, Wren Ivester and Lark Ivester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Charles and Melvin Darby; and sisters, Margie Cox, Dot Strickland, Ramona Powell, and Ruby Darby. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 2, 2021, from 4:00-6:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Monday, May 3rd at 1:00 pm at Neals Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Dorriety officiating. The committal service with military honors will be held Tuesday, May 4th at 10:00 am at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
