Robert Donald Martin, age 91, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born December 4, 1930, in Bridgeton, NJ, he was the son of the late Alex and Mary Ann Smith Martin. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War and was formerly employed with Verizon. He loved gardening and wood working and enjoyed making rocking horses for everyone. He is survived by his loving wife, 12 days short of their 70th anniversary, Alice Carolyn Rowland Martin; sons, Robert Donald Martin, Jr. (Libby), and Paul Martin (Ann Marie); daughters, Cheryl White (Joe), and Wendy Lindsay (Rich); 9 grandsons and 4 granddaughters; 5 great grandsons and 3 great granddaughters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen Hunter Kay; 2 brothers and 1 sister. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, 1301 N. Main St., Chamberlain, SD 57325.
