Bobby Joe Porter, age 80, of 800 Gordon Street, went to his Heavenly home on Monday, May 22, 2017 upon his death at his residence. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 24, 1936, in Anderson, he was the son of the late Ollie Bell Porter. After attending public schools, Mr. Porter spent forty-five years in the textile business where he was a loom fixer and a foreman. He worked with Dan River Company Woodside and Milliken Mills. Bobby retired from Jackson Mill in Iva. He was a member of Wellington Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors include his wife, Judy Diane Bennett Porter; a son, Roger Joe Porter and his wife, Darlene, of Anderson; a daughter, Patricia Louise Brown and her husband, Danny, of Belton; two step-sons, Rodney Earl Bennett and his wife, Becky of Anderson, and John David Chapman and his wife, Carol, of Powdersville; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is his cat, "Bootsie" who was his constant companion and friend. The funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Porter will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Smith and Rev. Roger Porter officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Mausoleum.
