Bobby Lee Wheeler, age 90, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born May 31, 1931, in Gainesville, GA, he was a son of the late Samuel Wheeler and Beulah Lee Smith Wheeler. He was married for 39 years to Betty Jo Wheeler until her death in 2012. Bobby was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country during the Korean War. He was a Mason with the Hiram Lodge and a Shriner. Bobby enjoyed playing bass and was a member of Middleton Road Baptist Church. He is survived by his children, Deborah Dodd (Brett), Ben Thomas and Bradley Thomas (Pam); brother, Buddy Wheeler; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter; brother, Jessie Thomas Wheeler; and sister, Eunice Scott. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 26, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 27, 2021, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Davis officiating. A committal service with military honors and masonic rites will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
