Brenda Gray Baker, age 79, of Iva, SC, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Iva Health and Rehab Center.

Born August 31, 1944, in Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of the late William "Bo" Earl Gray and the late Mae Joyce Mauldin Gray.

Brenda worked for Belk Department Store for many years and later worked with the Daycare at Iva First Baptist Church. She was known to all the children as "Miss BB". She loved the children, and they loved her so much so, former children have visited her at Iva Health and Rehab Center during her time there. She loved to shop and at least once a year she made a trip to the mountains and to the beach. The beach was her favorite spot.  Every Christmas she recited the Christmas classic, "Twas the Night Before Christmas" by memory.  Her recitation became a longstanding family tradition.

She is survived by her husband, Carl E. Baker; children, Chris Baker (Tammie) and Teresa Baker Wells (Tommy): brother, Billy Gray (Debbie); and one grandchild.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 4:30 pm at Iva City Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Gray will officiate. The family will gather with family and friends following the service.
