Brenda Charping Slaton, age 81, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Rainey Hospice House. Born November 27, 1940, in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Alfred Cleveland Charping and Annie Irene McAlister Charping. Brenda was a 1958 graduate of Girls High and was the owner of Brenda's Arts and Crafts for many years. She was a volunteer at the Anderson Free Clinic and the local elementary schools. Brenda was a member of the Backstreet Investors, Foothills Travelers Club and North Anderson Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of almost 63 years, Jerry Slaton; son, William Todd Slaton of Greenville, SC; daughter, Dale Slaton of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Heather Slaton Ebernickle (Garret), and Sabrina Slaton; and great grandchildren, Case Ebernickle and Charlotte "Charlie" Ebernickle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Tinsley, Mary Pruitt, and Betty Engram. The family will receive friends Friday, February 11, 2022, from 11:00am to 12:30pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow visitation at 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Rigsby officiating.
