Brenda Alewine Snipes, age 74, of Anderson, SC, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023, at her home. Born February 10, 1948, in, Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Wesley Alewine and Hazel Brock Alewine. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Wesley Alewine. Brenda was a beloved teacher at Wright Elementary School retiring after 30 years of dedicated service to the children in Anderson County School District 2. She loved traveling, shopping, cooking and her grandchildren. She was a very involved member of Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) Teacher Sorority and a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Gary Lee Snipes of the home; daughters, Alison Snipes Trumbull (Stephen) and Terri Snipes Kizer (Kevin) both of Anderson; grandchildren, Lauren Eshenroder (Nate) of Gainesville, FL, Marissa Peterson (Tristyn) of Greenville, Ryann Shelton, Brook Shelton, Ria Shelton, and Weston Kizer all of Anderson; and 4 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 11:00 am at Mount Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mark Krieger officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Bethel Baptist Church, 2603 Due West Hwy., Belton, SC 29627. The family will be at their respective homes.
