Brenda Kaye Golat Thompson, age 75, of Anderson, SC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Born October 23, 1946, in Tecumseh, MI, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Jean Novak Golat. Brenda was a 1965 graduate of Tecumseh High School. In 1993 she and Earl moved from Michigan to Carbondale, IL, and in 1998 settled in Anderson, SC. She had a love of gardening which led to her memberships with the Heritage Garden Club, the Master Gardener Club, and the Flower Designers Club. She was a long-time employee of the Kitchen Emporium. Brenda was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Women's Services where she volunteered with meal preparations. Brenda always enjoyed helping when St. Joseph's served meals at the South Main Mercy Center. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Earl James Thompson, Jr.; children, Kevin Johnson (Polly) of Rockford, MI, Julie LaVoy (Frank) of Tecumseh, MI, and Craig Johnson of El Segundo, CA; grandchildren, Evan Johnson, Lilly Johnson, and Jenavieve Hawkins; sister, Sylvia Yeary of Tecumseh, MI; nephew, Ed Yeary (Beth) of Tecumseh, MI; and niece, Pam Dangler of Sarasota, FL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Shelva Yeary. The family will receive friends Friday, January 28, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022, at noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Philip S. Gillespie officiating. The family will greet guests prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am at the church. Burial will be held at a later date at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, MI.
