Brian Alexander Gaines, age 45, passed away on May 21, 2017 at Rainey Hospice House. Born in Abbeville, SC on May 20, 1972, he is the son of James A. Gaines and the late Kathy Boles Green. Brian lived in the Iva Grove Community and worked as a supervisor with Gaines Mechanical. He was a dedicated member of Grove Fire Department and enjoyed fishing in his free time. Most of all, he loved his family, friends, and his kids deeply. He was a member of Truth Tabernacle Baptist Church. In addition to his father, he is survived by his step-mother, Clara Gaines; step-father, Wayne Green; sons, Andrew Gaines of Starr, SC, Korey Gaines of Iva, SC, and Kyle Gaines (Hope Alexander Gaines) of Iva, SC; brothers, Mike Gaines (Karen) of Elberton, GA, Michael (Bridget) and Kenny Powell, both of Lowndesville, SC; step-daughters, Kristen Carnes and MacKenzie Carnes of Starr, SC; one grandchild, Konner Gaines; nephews, Jamie Gaines, Alex, Jacob, and Drew Powell; and a niece, Heidi McCall. The funeral service will be held at Iva First Assembly of God on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverends Charlie Howell and Jerry Gray officiating. Interment will follow at Iva City Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be, Jamie Gaines, Chuck Seawright, Jeff Carnes, Alex Powell, Jacob Powell, and Brent Powell. The Grove Fire Department will be honorary escorts. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home, on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
