Broadus Pelham Davis, Sr., age 92, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Greenville County, SC, on March 3, 1924, he was the son of the late James Arthur Davis and the late Onie Lollis Davis Todd. He worked in textiles for most of his life, employed by Anderson Mill for 10 years, Orr Lyons Mill for 20 years, American Enka for 11 years, and Wellington Mill for 10 years. During his retirement he worked at White Jones Hardware for more than 10 years. He was an active member of Pope Drive Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, of 72 years, Mattie Watson Davis, of the home; a son, Broadus P. Davis, Jr. and his wife Anna, of Anderson, SC and Elaine Sumerel and her husband, Jim, of Laurens, SC; three brothers, Marvin Davis and his wife Evelyn, Jimmy Davis and wife Betty, all of Anderson, SC, and Ralph Davis and his wife Dot, of Honea Path, SC; and two sisters, Dorothy Meredith and Martha Cole, both of Anderson, SC; a step-brother, Lamar Todd, and his wife Carol, of Pendleton, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Allen, R.M., and Furman Davis; sisters, Lee Cox, Alma Tedder, Hester Klinsky, Corine Harper, Ollie Getsinger, and Gertrude Meredith; and his step-father, Joe Todd. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at 3:00 p.m.at in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Matthew Danuser officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends, prior to the service on Sunday, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will be at the residence.
