The McDougald Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 2211 North Main Street Anderson, South Carolina 29621 864-224-4343 Obituary: Bronsil Leon Metz Iva, SC Bronsil Leon Metz, 92, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Rainey Hospice House. Born on March 23, 1922, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Walter M. Metz and the late Alberta Bowie Metz. Mr. Metz graduated from Barnes Station School and served in United States Army as a Sergeant in the 90th Field Artillery, 25th Infantry Division, and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was retired from BASF and a lifetime member of American Legion Post 44; he was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Johnnie Robinson Metz; three children, Bronson (Brenda) Metz of Iva, Dennis Metz of Anderson, and Rita (J.P.) Stevens of Belton; brothers, Winford, Jimmy and Russell Metz, all of Iva; sisters, Grace Lawton of Iva and Martha Greenway of Anderson; grandchildren, Kim (Steve) Blackwell, Frank (Jennifer) Gillespie, Carmen (Tim) Hamby, Anthony (Jennifer) Italiano, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers; Walter, Evans, Woodrow, Winston, Jack and Baker Metz; one sister, Mary Alexander. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church with Reverend Charlie Brookshire officiating. Interment will follow at Ruhamah United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Bronson Metz, 506 Project Rd. Iva, SC and will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
