Brownie Ellen Helms, 73, of Anderson, SC, passed away, Monday, December 28, 2020, at her home. Born July 13, 1947, in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Melvin O'Conner Gardner and Brownie Margaret Reynolds Gardner. She was married to the late Andy Helms. Family was everything to Bonnie and she and her husband made the decision to take care of their grandchildren, Tyler, Austin and Celestia. They affectionately called her "GaGa" and she sacrificed everything she had to take care of them. She was more than just their grandmother. In her earlier years, Bonnie loved dancing and in her later years she enjoyed gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Celeste Bettis Haynie; brothers, Mike Gardner (Debra), Wayne Simmons (Greer) and Buddy Reynolds (Alice); and grandchildren, Tyler, Austin and Celestia Haynie. She is also survived by her special friends, James and Terra Asbury and their children. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 2021, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home.
