Price Sr., 86 of 214 Bedford Forrest Avenue, Anderson, SC, died at the Hospice House on September 19, 2006 in Anderson.He was born in Union, SC on April 2, 1920. He was the son of the late Charles S. Walker and the late Zelda Goode Walker. He was raised by foster parents, the late Richard Austin Price and the late Mae Williams Price. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Dickerson Price of the home; two children, daughter, Ann Mayfield and her husband, Randy; son, Bruce W. Price, Jr.; four grandchildren, David Mayfield and his wife, Jennifer, Kelly Mayfield Glenn and her husband, Matt, Louise Price Meinte and her husband, Brett and Hunter Price; two great-grandchildren, Jo Lee Mayfield and Riley Meinte; sisters, Mrs. Louise Foster and Mrs. Edith Blalock of Spartanburg, Mrs. Ruth Layton of Roebuck, Mrs. Marion McGaha of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Charles Walker, Elizabethtown, KY, Calvin Walker, Spartanburg and Jessie Walker, Union, SC.He served five years in the U.S. Infantry during World War II, most of the time in the Pacific. He retired from Proctor & Gamble after 32 years of service. He was a member of Pope Drive Baptist Church, a member of the King Sunday School Class. He was a Past Commander & Life Member of W.A. Hudgens American Legion Post #14, Past Chef de Gare of Voiture # 1248 of the Forty and Eight, a member of the VFW and DAV, Past President of the Gen. Andrew Pickens Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, Past Commander of Palmetto Sharpshooters of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Past President of the Anderson County Historical Society, Past Area One Representative of the Confederation of S.C. Historical Societies, Past President of Golden Kiwanis Club, Life Member of Anderson Elk Lodge #1206 and a member of the National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barrons, and a member of the Colonial Order of the Crown, Descendants of the Emperor Charlemagne.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Ken Wright.
