'JIMMY' BURDETTE August 10, 1924 - September 6, 2005ANDERSON, SCMr. Columbus James Burdette, age 81, husband of Peggy Brissey Burdette of 606 College Heights, Anderson, SC, died Tuesday, September 06, 2005 at the Anderson Area Medical Center in Anderson, SC.Born in Iva, SC on August 10, 1924, Mr. Burdette was a son the late W. W. Burdette and Verna Bruce Burdette. He was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He served on the Anderson City Council from 1960 to 1962 and was elected in 1964 as the Anderson County Clerk of Court and held that position until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Ruff Masonic Lodge # 240 and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Shriner of Greenville, SC. He was a graduate of Iva High School and Forrest Junior College and also a cattle farmer. He was a member of Orrville United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and choir member. In addition to his wife, Peggy Brissey Burdette, he is survived by children: Bradley William Burdette and his wife, Harriett Moore Burdette, Cody Burdette, Jane Wilkie and her husband, Steve Wilkie, and Matthew Burdette and his wife, Lisa Massey Burdette, all of Anderson, SC; six grandchildren, Amy Burdette, Anna Burdette, Brittney Burdette, Kevin Burdette, Nina Wilkie and Zackary Burdette; sisters, Sara Helms of Anderson, and Verna Greenway of Elberton, GA.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Bill, John and Marion and sisters, Jennie, Nancy, and Carrie.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 11:00 am at Orrville United Methodist Church officiated by the Reverend Chris Arries. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Anderson.The family will be at the residence.Memorials may be made to Orrville United Methodist Church, 2408 S.
