Obituary

Carlton Wayne Nobles, age 80, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025.

Born December 19, 1944, in Sylacauga, AL, he was the son of the late William Alphonzo Nobles and Tressie Irene Phurrough Nobles. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Eleanor Thompson and Barbara Gable.

Wayne attended Jacksonville State University and worked in electrical sales for 43 years. He was retired from Darby Electric and was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving his country faithfully and honorably. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his bike. He was a member of GAMAC and Central Presbyterian Church where he sang in the church choir. Above all, Wayne was a devoted family man who took great care of his wife and two girls whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dee Ratterree Nobles; daughters, Leslie Coggins (Ross) of Anderson and Katie Shoffner (Todd) of Columbia; and grandchildren, Mitchell Coggins, Lauren Coggins, Harrison Shoffner, and Emily Shoffner.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 12:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Noelle Read officiating. Burial will follow at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 1404 N. Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621.
