CALVIN THRASHER February 15, 1929 - September 7, 2012 ANDERSON, SC Calvin Marquise Thrasher, age 83, of 1002 Gordon Street, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, September 7, 2012, at his residence. Upon his death Mr. Thrasher joined his son, Mark Thrasher, in Heaven, who died in 2000. Born in Lavonia, GA he was the son of the late Dewey A. Thrasher and the late Deamy Greer Thrasher Adams. Calvin earned an Associate's Degree from Tri County Technical College. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force, retiring in 1971 after 23 years of service. He received many medals including, Army Commendation, Air Force Commendation, Occupation of Japan, Korean Service, Vietnam Service and Expedition. He was a Third Degree Lifetime Mason and a Thirty-second Degree VFW Lifetime Member. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Geraldine Jarrard Thrasher of the home; daughters, Shirley Gaines and her husband Richard of Anderson and Debbie Matthews and her husband of Raymond of Jobstown, NJ; a son, Steve Thrasher and his wife Vanessa of Anderson; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, David Thrasher and his wife Denise and Tommy Thrasher, all of Anderson; and sisters, Marilyn Lanier of Anderson and Sandra Thrasher of Greenwood. In addition to his parents and his beloved son, Mark he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Thelma Thrasher; a stepfather, Jessie Adams; brothers, Charles Thrasher, Malvin Thrasher, Dennis Thrasher; and sisters, Mary Madge Howell and Frances Phillips. The Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 10, 2012, at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home at 11:00 am with Reverend Phillip McAlister officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. The family will be at the home and will receive friends on Sunday, September 9, 2012, at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
