Captain John Clay "Johnny" Brock, age 72, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson, SC on March 30, 1945, he was the son of the late J.C. Brock, Sr., and the late Maggie Richey Brock. John worked as an Anderson police officer where he achieved rank of Captain, and retired after 31 years of honorable service. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his loving wife of the home, Brenda; a son, Jon Brock of Anderson; daughters, Carissa Burton and Kristin Lee-Calhoun, both of Anderson; sisters: Shelby Adams and Mildred Barnes, both of Anderson; five grandchildren, Tyler Brock, Sommer Brock, Jordan Lee, Jesiah Calhoun and Jonah Calhoun; and a great-grandchild, Greyson Brock; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Brock; sisters, Virginia Brock, Ellen Hutson, Annette Davis and Grace Burdette; brothers, J.C. Brock, Jr., Edward Brock, Wilton Brock, Raymond Brock and a twin-brother, James Brock. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. with the Reverend Wayne Adams officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will be at his residence, 604 Whitehall Rd., Anderson, SC 29625, and will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Anderson Cancer Association, 215 E.
