ROBERT W.G.WYATT, SR.JANUARY 24, 1942 - JanUARY 8, 2009ANDERSON, SC -- Captain Robert William Gilden Wyatt, Sr., USAF, Ret'd, age 66, of 1058 Honey Creek Road, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at the V.A. Medical Center in Augusta, GA.Born in Watsonville, CA on January 24, 1942, he was the son of the late Edward Wyatt and Nellie Duryee Wyatt. He was a graduate of the College of Charleston, and the Air Force Officers School and was a retired Captain in the United States Air Force. In addition, he did extensive volunteer work with Adult Literacy, PBA, Boy Scouts, and most importantly was involved in the Kairos Prison Ministry for the McCormick Penitentiary. He was an Episcopalian who attended both Trinity Episcopal Church in Abbeville and St. George Episcopal Church in Anderson.Survivors include his wife of forty four years, Cheryl Joseph Wyatt, of the home; daughter, Melissa Wyatt Carroll and husband, Jeff Carroll, of Anderson; son, Robert W.G. Wyatt, Jr. and former wife, Michelle Wyatt, of Belton; sisters: Marilyn Sussman and husband, Ernie Sussman, of Indio Hills, CA, and Charlene Gannotti and husband, Pat Gannotti, of Desert Hot Springs, CA; one granddaughter, Rachel Nicole Wyatt of Honea Path; sisters-in-law: Chris King and husband, Randy King, and their son, Scott Hix, of Cadiz, KY, and Lisa Joseph and son, Dillon Joseph, of Greenville, SC.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Michael Wyatt.The Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, January 15, 2009, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, conducted by the Reverend Beryl Rosenberger. Interment with full Military honors will follow in M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at the funeral home.The family is at the residence.Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.A message of condolence may be sent by visiting www.mcdougaldfuneralhome.com.THE McDOUGALD FUNERAL HOME is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
