Broeker of 1406 Kimberly Road, Anderson, SC, died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.Born in Elizabeth, NJ on March 10, 1925, he was a son of the late Carl Broeker and Margaret Gummick Broeker. Mr. Broeker and his wife are currently co-owners of You've Got it Maid Professional Cleaning Service of Anderson. Carl retired as a General Management Consultant for General Chemical Corporation of Parsippany, NJ for whom he managed many of their plant mines in North America, including mines in Green River, Wyoming, Mexico and Canada for over 10 years. He was president and CEO for Advance American Equipment in Chicago, IL for several years. He was president and general manager of Neptune Measurement Company in Greenwood, SC where he spent 13 years. His career growth started with the Singer Company in Elizabeth, NJ, where he started as an apprentice toolmaker and rose to the position of General Manager of North American Operations. In 1972, he became general manager of the Singer plant in Anderson, and moved to Anderson in 1974, before retiring with a total service of 25 years. Carl served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict where he had active duty in the South Pacific and the United States. He attended Newark College of Engineering and graduated from Union College after leaving the service and attending several advanced navy training schools. He also attended Wharton School of Finance and Accounting. He was advanced to a senior member of the American Society of Quality.His civic duties included, The Eastern Union County Chamber of Commerce, in New Jersey, Advisory Council Summit, Elizabeth Bank Advisory Council, Lions Club, Exchange Club, the Anderson YMCA Board, as well as the Advisory Council to Anderson University. He was a member of the Elks, Azure Masonic Lodge of Cranford, NJ, the American Legion of Anderson, the Anderson Country Club and was one of the founders of Cobbs Glen Country Club. He was a member of Midway Presbyterian Church in Anderson, SC.Survivors include his wife, Adele W. Broeker of the home; his loving daughter, Carolyn Broeker Knight; son, Scot K. Broeker and son-in-law, Johnny L. Knight, all of Anderson; grandchildren, Heather L. Broeker of NYC, Michael G. Broeker of Raleigh, NC, Ashley PAGE TWO CARL BROEKER OBITUARY K. Knight and Valan M. Knight all of Anderson and great-granddaughter, Aaliyah M. Knight of Anderson. He is also survived by three godchildren, Dallas and Sky Yates of St. Simons Island, GA and Dr. Courtenay 'Skip' Whitman IV of Elkin, NC; sister-in-law, Marilyn Jean Whitman and her husband, Courtenay 'Bud' Whitman III of New Jersey and many loving nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Dr. James M. Rice and the Reverend Mel Davis. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Anderson with Military and Masonic Rites.
