Faust, 88, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at the AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC after an extended illness. A loyal, loving husband and devoted family man, Carl was born in Randolph, NJ and retired to Anderson in 1995. He was a devout follower of Christ all of his life and joined Concord Baptist Church upon moving to Anderson. Musically talented, he was a bass soloist and played the harmonica and guitar at Bethlehem Church in New Jersey. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan and a farm league pitcher in his younger years.Mr. Faust served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a repair mechanic for the Nordon bombsight and autopilot assemblies used in combat aircraft such as the B-29 bomber. He was deployed to Guam for the duration of the war. After the war, Mr. Faust worked for Potter Aeronautical Corporation, where he contributed to the design of a flow meter, which has been used widely in the aerospace industry. He later joined AT&T Bell Laboratories, where he was instrumental in the development of wire and cable techniques, aerial distribution apparatus designs, and expanding sales of multimillion-dollar aerial plant products. He received patents covering the aerial strand connector, closure cable adapter, and a new closure sealing technique for overhead telephone cable closures. He retired in 1987.Mr. Faust is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anna Elizabeth Weisbach Faust of the home; his sister, Dorothy Delvey of Dover, NJ; his daughters, Donna Przirembel and her husband Dr. Chris Przirembel of Central, SC and Carla Faust Bare and her husband David Bare of Gainesville, FL; granddaughter Dawn Alee Przirembel of Greenville, SC; and grandson, Chris Przirembel, his wife, Christian, and their two sons, David and Benjamin, of Greenville, SC.The Funeral Service will be held at Concord Baptist Church on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Dr. Don Cox officiating.
