Carl Wayne Malstrom, age 90, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at NHC Healthcare Anderson.

Born June 24, 1934, in Chattanooga, TN, he was the son of the late Edwin Arthur Malstrom and Lucille Bowman Malstrom. He was also preceded in death by his sister, June Hoback.

Carl received his bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga and his master's from Clemson University. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He formerly worked at Clemson University and retired from North Carolina State University. He was known as the "computer guy" and was one of the originators of computer simulation. His interests included traveling, woodworking, history, and sports. He was also an avid collector of many things.

He is survived by his wife, Xiashan "Shelly" Hu; children, Carla Evans (Kim) of Apalachin, NY, Gary Malstrom (Terri Vaughan) of Clemson, and Eddie Malstrom of Clemson; grandchildren, Rachel Malstrom, Natalie Rustici (Gio), and Jake Malstrom; and great granddaughter, Jaedyn.

A memorial service will be held at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
