McDougald Funeral Home2211 North Main StreetAnderson, South Carolina 29621864-224-4343 OBITUARY GENE RAGSDALE October 9, 1939 - July 25, 2011 ANDERSON, SCCarl Eugene Ragsdale, age 71, husband of Sarah Fredericks Ragsdale of Anderson, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011 at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Greenville, SC on October 9, 1939, Mr. Ragsdale was a son of the late Carl Pete Ragsdale and Lula Mae Smith Ragsdale. He retired from Elliott Metal Works and was an avid vegetable gardener and gamecock fan. He was a member of West Anderson Church of God.Survivors include his wife of the home; step-son James Curtis Stovall; step-daughter, Miriam Norris and her husband, John; sister, Virginia Spoon; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Gary Ragsdale and a sister, Martha Wright. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverends Mark Daniel, John M. Daniel and Ronnie Powell. Interment will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 28, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.Flowers are optional.
