Carl Ann Lightfoot Van Wie of Anderson, SC, died February 14, 2023. She was born in Camden, SC, on September 23, 1941, the daughter of the late Carl Monroe Lightfoot and Blanche Gardner Lightfoot. Her husband, Lyle Van Wie, died February 5, 2015. She and Lyle began their married life in Bermuda before relocating to Charleston, SC, and finally retiring to Anderson, SC. Carl Ann was an accomplished equestrian and a champion of all animals. She trained and showed dogs during her years in Charleston and was a member of the Charleston Kennel Club. She and Lyle enjoyed traveling and they would spend their summer months visiting family in New York and Florida. Above all, Carl Ann maintained a lifelong love for her family. Her abiding interest was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carl Ann is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Team of Anderson, SC, Deborah Hammond of Anderson, SC, and Amy Hammond Kinard (Neal) of Charleston, SC. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Abigail Team Stroud (Garrett) of Atlanta, GA, Adam Team (Kristina) of Greenville, SC, Morgan Team of Central, SC, Madeline Kinard Smith (Steven) of Summerville, SC, and Turner Kinard of Charleston, SC and great grandchildren Eliza Quinn Stroud, Clara Donlon Team, Jon Garrett Stroud and Emma Frances Team. She will be remembered and always loved as everyone's beloved Nana. Besides, her parents and husband, Carl Ann was predeceased by her son, Walter Spear Hammond, III and her son in law, Jon Team. Carl Ann's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the love and care she received from the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living in Anderson, SC. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Central, SC, at 1:00 pm with Rev. Larry Sneed officiating.
