Obituary

Carmon Louise Shiflett, age 90, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, after a brief stay at Rainey Hospice House.

Born August 30, 1935, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Collie Whittington and Mollie Whittington. She was married for 65 years to James William Shiflett, Sr. until his death in 2017. She was also preceded in death by one son, Roger Shiflett; and one sister, Katherine Howell.

Louise loved her family and raising her children and grandchildren brought her such joy. She loved cooking a big Sunday dinner, including her famous homemade biscuits, with her beloved family gathered around the table. She would have coconut cake, her favorite dessert, for all to enjoy.

In addition to being a homemaker and raising her family, Louise worked alongside her daughter Debbie and son-in-law Keith in their family business for many years. She and her husband James were avid cat lovers who never turned away a stray. She was a member of Sierra Baptist Church and former longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Jim Shiflett (Sharon) and Jeff "Smoke" Shiflett (Missy); daughters, Debbie Pearson (Keith), Karen Snipes (Eddie), Pam Seay (Tim), and Chrystal Shepherd (Michael); brother, James Whittington; sister, Shelby Anderson; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Brittany Johnson, Louise's aid for the past 14 months, for the tender love and care she provided.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:30 am at New Silver Brook Cemetery with Thomas Lovell officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 10:30-11:30 am prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621, or PAWS, 1320 US-29, Anderson, SC 29626.
